Farewell to the West Pier?
Some see it as a rusting eyesore others as a historical landmark,
whatever your view it looks like the days are numbered for the
West Pier as bulldozers moved onto the site recently.
The initial plan is to remove the walkway
part of the structure, but presumably the
next stage will be to demolish the main
frame of the building to make way for the
new 'Brighton Eye'. This rather
controversial project has divided Brighton.

Fresh snow on the way...
Some claim the eye will be a world class attraction, offering
spectacular views for miles around and on a par with Portsmouth's
Spinaker Tower. On the negative side an otherwise fairly peaceful
part of Brighton's seafront could potentially become very busy and
the landscape dominated.
